Hi, I’m Saranya, the person behind Electricity Bill Calculator Utility Tool.
I’m a homemaker based in Tamil Nadu, and like most families here, I used to dread the bi-monthly electricity bill. The numbers never seemed to add up – one cycle the bill would be ₹800, the next it would suddenly jump to ₹2,400 for just a few extra units. I had no idea why.
After spending hours trying to understand the TANGEDCO tariff slabs, the telescopic system, and what FSA even meant, I realised one thing – there was no simple, honest tool that just showed you the calculation clearly.
So in 2025, my husband and I built one. tnebbillcalculator.info started as a simple weekend project for our own use. We wanted something that showed the slab-wise breakdown, accounted for the 100-unit free subsidy, and gave an honest estimate – nothing more, nothing less. When we shared it with friends and neighbours in our area, the response was overwhelming. People were relieved to finally understand their bills.
Today, the site helps thousands of Tamil Nadu families every month estimate their electricity charges, understand why their bill jumped, and make smarter decisions about their energy usage.
We are not affiliated with TANGEDCO or the Tamil Nadu government. This is an independent, free tool built by an ordinary Tamil Nadu family – for ordinary Tamil Nadu families.

Why We Built This
Tamil Nadu’s telescopic electricity tariff can be confusing. A small increase in units consumed – especially crossing the 500-unit mark – can cause a disproportionately large jump in your bill. Many consumers are unaware of how this slab system works.
This calculator was built to bring clarity and transparency to everyday consumers, helping them understand their bills, plan their usage, and avoid bill shock.
Limitations
This tool estimates energy charges only for Domestic (LT–IA) connections. It does not account for:
Fixed charges, meter rent, electricity tax, fuel surcharge adjustment (FSA), arrears, penalties, or any other components that may appear on your official TANGEDCO bill.
